Hayward Simmons and his wife of 35 years, Dona, own and operate Lakeview Plantation, a trail riding and horse camping facility in Allendale County, SC; Lakeview Plantation Equestrian Escapes, a cross-country trail riding and horse camping outfitting service and the Cedar Knoll Hunting Lodge, a hunting service founded in 1985 specializing in white-tailed deer, wild boar and quail hunting on their Lakeview Plantation property.
A member of a Florida pioneer family from the Tampa
area, Hayward, who is 58 years old, has spent his life as an
agriculturist/outdoorsman involved in raising cattle and citrus from
his youth to farming and managing their Lakeview/Cedar Knoll operations
since 1977. He enjoys people, especially outdoorsmen and is interested
in trail riding/hunting throughout the continental US.
He also serves as an "At Large Director" on South Carolina Horseman's Council Board of Directors, as a Member of Clemson University School of Forestry & Natural Resources Advisory Board and as a Member of the South Carolina Parks Recreation & Tourism Regional (Thoroughbred Country) Advisory Board.
Hayward and Dona and their operations have been a subject of numerous magazines including those found in Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, Deer & Deer Hunting, Shooting Times, Progressive Farmer and the Trail Rider Magazine and of numerous television programs including Cabela's Outdoor Quest with Jay Novachek, Red Arrow with Kip Campbell and Chad Day, Bob Redfern Outdoors with Bob Redfern and the Best of America by Horseback with Tom & Pat Seay on numerous occasions.
